About Me
My name is Hector Aviles, and I’m your host and main writer at LatinoMusicCafe.com. As you can tell, I’m a big fan of Latin music and decided to start Latino Music Cafe to share my knowledge, insights, and research on Latin music. I believe you’ll enjoy more the music when you know more about it. You can also benefit from my recommendations to help you find good music to listen or dance. I like to research our musical roots, and believe we can keep our culture alive by sharing those cultural roots with others.
My favorite music genre is “salsa”, but I like almost any type of Latin music, from “trios” to boleros, from rancheras to huapango, from bachata to vallenato, from brazilian to latin jazz, to a bit of reggeatón, pop, rock en Español, and many others. Music is one of the main ways to express our culture and teach it to our future generations. As a latino living in the United States, I want to do my part in sharing a little knowlege regarding the story behind our Latin music, so that we can better enjoy the music for ourselves, and also be able to better pass our culture to our children.
I currently work at Microsoft in Redmond, Washington. I help my organization define and measure success in its strategic initiatives, which enables us to improve the way we launch products to market. My educational background is in Industrial Engineering with a Masters in Business Administration specialized in Technology Management (MBA/TM).
My career at Microsoft started as a Quality Manager manufacturing CDs for our software products. I helped establish process and procedures that ensured the quality of our CDs to our distribution partners. I used my ISO 9000 and Florida Quality Award Examiner experience to help ensure the quality of Microsoft CDs in North America by developing a CD Vendor Certification Program and auditing vendor processes. I later helped protect Microsoft’s intellectual property by contributing in the improvement of our product key, digital code signing, and anti-virus scanning processes in preparation for releasing our software products to market. I now help our organization measure the success of orchestrating our product launches within the groups at Microsoft, and recently managed the launch of a product to market. Before joining Microsoft, I helped clients develop and implement quality systems as a Quality Consultant, and prior to that, did that same work for my employers as Quality and Process Engineer.
I hope to make Latino Music Cafe a site were you feel comfortable sharing your opinions and comments. My goal is to see LatinoMusicCafe.com grow from a small discussion group into an active community of readers that also contribute to the richness of the content and of the discussion.
Please let me know how I can improve Latinoo Music Cafe to reach this goal. You can reach me at my email (hector@latinowebcafe.com). I also encourage you to spread the word to your friends and family so we can become a bigger community. I hope to hear from you soon!
Saludos,
Hector
